“Everywhere Flies that Chinese Dragon”: Bruce Lee in the Hong Kong Biographies

Abstract: As a martial artist and an actor, Bruce Lee is a legendary. His short life has been fascinating biographers. Despite of quite some oral history and written works by witnesses, there remain unsolved mysteries about him. This paper intends to conduct a comparative research on the biographical works of Bruce Lee, so as to explore the differences of narration in biographies and biopics in Hong Kong. This will be elaborated on in three steps: an overlook of biographical works of Bruce Lee, an analysis, and an in-depth study of the eternal dichotomy, i.e. literariness and truth, in the field of life writing with the focus of the discussion on the fictitious imagination.
