The Russian Sinologist Boris L. Riftin: An Academic Career

Abstract: Boris L. Riftin is a Russian sinologist and Academician of Russian Academy of Sciences. His sinological studies covers five areas: folklore, classical & modern literature, folk culture, Taiwan indigenous culture and the retrieving of Chinese classics that have been lost elsewhere outside China. Out of so many years of research in his own field, he has developed his own research approaches such as exploration in depth and width, comparative study, and field work. He devotes all his life to the examination and dissemination of Chinese culture.

Li Mingbin (1933-) is Professor of Russian Department at Beijing University. He was Head of the Russian Department, Director of the Institute of Russian Studies, and Chairman of the Society of Sino-Russian Comparative Literature Studies. His major works include Chinese Literature in Russia, Chinese Culture in Russia, A History of Russian Culture, A History of Russian Literature, The Soul of Russian Literature: Tolstoy, and A History of Russian Sinology.
