The Autobiographical Orientation and Self-Shaping: The Case of Lu Xun’s Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk

Abstract: The distinctive autobiographical style in Lu Xun’s works is most prominent in his Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk, a collection of essays about his youth memories. With one of his most publicly renowned works as a case study, the interpretation of Lu Xun’s inimitable autobiographical mode of literary creation will provide an alternative perspective to discern his typical literary features and unique personality. Importantly, his intellectual versatility and dispositional diversity, observed in Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk, continue to have practical significance and theoretical value to further uncover Lu Xun’s contradictory characters, and to speculate on the spiritual status and pursuits of contemporary intellectuals.
